2010-11 Terms and Conditions
Once the Rental Agreement is signed, the Renter is responsible for the vehicle and any or all damage or loss Renter or others cause to the vehicle to the extent of their excess.
Reservations:
Included deposit is required at the time of reservation. Once this deposit is received, the reservation will be confirmed. Full payment for the rental fee and any additional equipment, excess reduction or mileage package is then required upon collection of the vehicle.
Rates calculation:
Rates are calculated as per night. Where a rental crosses into another season, the rate will split to allow for the new season rate.
Payments:
Payment must be made in U.S. Dollars in cash, MasterCard or Visa.
Cancellations:
Deposit: NON Refundable
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
If the confirmed campervan booking is cancelled after 5 Days of booking, we will offer a credit of $200 towards a future reservation. (does not apply to specials running)
If the confirmed campervan booking is cancelled within 14 Days of pick up or there is a no show, an additional 20% cancellation fee will be charged.
Booking amendments:
It is possible to extend your rental without incurring a fee subject to availability.
It is possible to shorten your rental within 21 Days of pick up. Shortening a rental will be quoted as a new rental and will be calculated at the retail rate with any current specials not applicable.
Please note: Cancellations or amendments must be made strictly in writing via email.
Driver's License/Proof of Identification:
All drivers must hold a valid driver's license for the entire rental period, plus have a major credit card. Only drivers specified on the contract are allowed to drive Escape Campervans
vehicles. All specified drivers with their licenses must be present at time of vehicle pick up.
If driver's license is not in English format, an International Driver's License is required.
Minimum Age of Drivers:
All drivers must be 21 years of age or older. Proof of age must be ascertained by a valid driver's license.
Additional Drivers:
Escape Campervans' vehicles are designed for three-person travel and there is no additional charge for extra drivers.
Vehicle Pick Up and Drop Off:
Vehicles are available for pick up between 11am and 4pm and must be returned by 10:00 a.m. on the agreed drop-off date. Late returns up to 3 hours will incur a prorated charge of the daily rate per hour the vehicle is dropped off late. A full-day rental charge will be applied once the vehicle is more than 3 hours late. No refunds will be granted for shortened rentals. There are no refunds for late pick up or early return of vehicles.
Airport Transfers:
You have an option to an Airport pick up at the time of booking. The cost for transfer from and to any Airport Area Hotels is $20 (1-3 persons).
State Tax
Escape Campervans charge 9.5% California & Nevada State Tax on all bookings.
Minimum and Maximum Rental Period:
The minimum rental period is 5 Days for roundtrip LAX rentals only. There is no maximum rental period.
Mileage:
Rates include 100 miles per day. Extra miles will be charged at 25¢ per mile. An unlimited miles package can be pre-purchased for $19 per day.
Extra optional accessories. (Price is per hire unless otherwise stated)
GPS $5/Day (Max $60), Roof Storage box $50; Picnic table $25; Car Seat or booster seat $30; 2 person tent $40, Solar shower $10. Awning $30, Snow chains $50.
*All extras should be pre-booked to ensure availability.
Road Restrictions:
Driving on unpaved roads (excluding county and state maintained roads), dirt roads, restricted areas and 'off road' areas is not allowed. Renter is liable for all damages to vehicle, tires, towing charges and other expenses as a result of a breakdown, collision, or other, associated with operating Escape Campervans vehicles in these areas. Escape Campervans' insurance protection will also be null and void. The following are restricted areas:
o Anywhere in Mexico.
o Death Valley between the dates 1st March and 30th November
o Any unimproved road, trail, track (excluding county and state maintained road)
o Any off-road areas (dunes, beaches, riverbeds, logging roads, forest trails, dirt trails etc.)
o Any Salt plains (including Burning Man festival)
Insurance for campervans
Insurance is included in your cost of rental (included in daily rate). Comprehensive insurance covers third party property and public liability to US$1,000,000. The hirer is liable for the first US$1200.00 (US$1700.00 for drivers between 21 and 25 years) of any damage caused in any one accident.
Accident excess
A credit card imprint with your Rental Agreement is all we require to cover the excess on your insurance. This is not deducted from your bank account prior to your hire and is ONLY processed to cover any breakages, loss, fines or damage that occurs.
Excess (Deductible) Waiver
You can reduce the amount of the excess (the amount you are liable to pay in the event of an accident).

*When the 'Excess Waiver' option is taken, it applies to the first incident or accident only.
*"Max collectable" is the maximum premium you will pay to reduce your liability. E.g. for a 50 day rental, ‘No worries cover (excess $150) costs $350 or $7 per day.
Insurance-Exclusions:
The renter is fully liable for any damage to the Escape Campers campervan or third party property if:
o The terms of the rental contract are breached.
o If the driver is does not hold an appropriate driver’s licence.
o Damage to the campervan is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving.
o Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
o Driving on unsealed or restricted roads or restricted areas.
o Water submersion or saltwater damage caused through own fault.
Hirer’s obligations and ‘Operator error’:
The hire must maintain the water, oil and tire pressures during their journey.
Hirers will be fully accountable for, but not limited to the following:
Engine overheating, running out of oil, incorrect fuel put into vehicle, getting the vehicle stuck. Liability is total damage and expenses despite the excess amount listed on the rental agreement. (Excess relates to accident damage only)
Mechanical repairs and accidents:
Contact Escape on our 24 hour free phone number if you have any problems or any irregularities develop with the camper. Failure to notify Escape immediately of any performance irregularities, or damage could affect liability grounds.
In the event of a breakdown Escape will either:
a) Provide a replacement vehicle
b) Refund the lost days use of the vehicle
c) Extend the hire to account for lost days
I will not undertake any repairs without first contacting Escape.
There will be no refund for days lost, towing and any other expenses arising from ‘Operator error’. I acknowledge that Escape Campervans Inc will not be liable for retrospective claims due to vehicle malfunction or accident damage.
General Rules:
o Please do not smoke inside the campervan. No pets are allowed (except designated Service Dogs) in the vehicles.
o All passengers must use seatbelts while vehicle is in motion.
o Escape Campervans does not accept any liability for any injuries incurred to passengers travelling in the back of the vehicle and/or while not using seatbelts.
General Conditions:
All rentals are subject to the terms and conditions of Escape Campervans' Rental Agreement. Any supplemental Rental Agreement. Rates, policies, terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. Escape Campervans assumes no responsibility for any detention, delay, loss, damage or injury that Renter might experience, no matter how it is caused or by whom.
