INSTRUCTIONS, BEFORE DEPARTURE At Go West we familiarize all our customers with the operation and use of a Recreational Vehicle, covering all aspects that are necessary for full enjoyment of the RV. If required we arrange a test drive. Please allow 60-90 minutes for instructions, paperwork and unpacking.
RESERVATIONS To reserve a vehicle we require the included deposit from the quote mentioned. Final payment is due 35 days prior to date of pick up (except for Early Bird bookings). Payments can be made through a valid credit card(Visa and Mastercard. For American Express it will be transacted in Australian Dollars) and bank transfer. At the time of rental any additional items, security deposit, taxes and insurance premiums must be paid. Every Renter must have a valid credit card to be able to rent from Go West (no pre-paid credit cards accepted).

MINIMUM RENTAL & EARLY RETURNS 1 week minimum rental 2 weeks minimum on Class A rentals 3 weeks minimum on northern rentals (see Northern Rental for more Information) No refunds for early returns
PICK UP AND RETURN Rental pick-up is between 10am - 3pm. Rental return is between 8am - 10am. No pick-ups or returns after 3pm. Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto,: Closed Sundays and Statutory Holidays.
Domestic Flight Arrival: As long as you arrive early in the morning it should be ok. Remember: to call the rental station to get your pick up time and to inform rental station personnel of your arrival. No vehicle pick ups after 1500h.
LATE RETURNS $50 Late Fee per hour and the transfer will not be valid anymore. Customer must be ready AND packed by 1000h the latest.
TRANSFERS Vancouver & Calgary: Pick-up and drop-off at downtown and airport hotels. Drop-off at airport as well. Toronto: Pick-up at airport hotels. Drop-off at airport or airport hotels. Downtown hotel pick up and drop off on Mondays only. Transfers are offered during scheduled pick up and drop off times only.
AVAILABILITY In the unlikely event that the booked vehicle size is unavailable at time of departure, we reserve the right to substitute with a larger model. Any subsequent expense (gasoline, ferry costs, etc.) are the sole responsibility of the renter. Should a lower rated vehicle be offered, Go West’s only obligation is to refund the cost difference between the two vehicles. In the event that the renter refuses to accept the vehicle offered, the renter acknowledges that all payments will be forfeited and he/she will have no further loss or damage against Go West.
RENTER’S RESPONSIBILITY The Renter is responsible for the vehicle and will be charged for any misuse or undue care, mechanical damage due to negligence in vehicle operation or failure to provide normal maintenance, including checking engine oil, fluids and coolant levels at each refueling, and reporting mechanical failures or accidents immediately. Repairs over $75 require prior authorization from Go West.
FUEL INFORMATION Fuel costs are the Renter’s responsibility. No claim is made as to fuel consumption. Fuel is full before departure and must be returned full.
CLEANING We are very proud of the condition we keep our vehicles in (all are non-smoking units). To avoid extra charges, please return vehicle clean inside and outside. $25/tank will be charged if holding tanks are not returned empty. A cleaning deposit of $150($250 for A-Class) is processed at time of rental and refunded upon return of clean unit.
No Smoking or Animals allowed in Vehicles.
DRIVER REQUIREMENTS All drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age and a maximum of 75 years of age, and must have a valid driver’s licence. VIP insurance is mandatory for all drivers under 25 years of age.
For drivers license not in English format, an International Driver's License is recommended but not mandatory.
75 years old and above drivers A medical clearance valid for the travel dates is required. This will be approved on a case to case basis.
TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS No vehicles are permitted on Dempster Hwy. No vehicles are allowed into North West Territories, Nunavut, Death Valley(USA) or Mexico. No vehicles are allowed on Alaska or Cassiar Hwy unless Northern Rental surcharge has been paid. Roads designated on the provincial or state map as ‘other roads/gravel or dirt’ or ‘forestry trunk roads’ are not permitted.
NORTHERN RENTALS A surcharge of $300 applies to rentals traveling north of Fort St. John on the Alaska Hwy. Cassiar Hwy, into Yukon and Alaska. (Travel on the Dempster Hwy, into the NW Territories and Nunavut is not allowed) Northern use must be specified and be confirmed at time of reservation. We allow Northern Rentals with C22, C24 and the C26 Slide Out Motorhomes. Insurance: VIP at $25 per day is available which will reduce the collision deductible; delays caused by mechanical breakdowns on Northern Rentals are not covered; repairs or damages resulting from travel in restricted areas without authorization are the Renter’s responsibility and insurance coverage is void.
STORAGE Pending space, free storage of luggage, cars and/or airline tickets is available. All storage is at Renter’s risk.
INSURANCE Any accident, damage to vehicle, vandalism, fire or theft, must be reported to Go West and the Police within 24 hours.
Collision and public liability insurance ($5 million) is provided free of charge with $7500 deductible per occurrence (column 1).The deductible may be reduced with the purchase of VIP at $25 per day (column 2). Radio, air conditioning, fridge, microwave and cruise control are not considered to be mechanical breakdowns.
Go West is not responsible for hotel, rental car or any other incidental or consequential cost incurred by breakdowns and the resulting interruption of the rental.
An Insurance deposit of $5,000 or $1,500 if VIP is purchased is processed. Deposits are refundable upon vehicle check-in when the RV is returned: on time, undamaged, clean, with all equipment complete, holding tanks empty and fuel tank full.
DAMAGE TO VEHICLE - CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY In the event of loss or damage to vehicle while on rental, whether or not due to the fault of the rental customer, the customer’s responsibility for direct and accidental loss or damage to the vehicle is limited to a maximum of $7500 per occurrence. Thefollowing are not covered if damages are caused by: • Failure to maintain all fluid levels • Failure to use specified fuel or lubricant • Water in fuel system • Operation by anyone under 21 years of age or not licenced • Driving if under the influence of alcohol or drugs • Deliberate or willful damage by renter or guests • Any damage to the interior of the RV • Travel in restricted areas, on gravel roads or forestry trunk roads • Towing of any kind • Freezing of the vehicle’s water systems • Travel with more passengers than the available seat belts • Damage occurring in an accident that the renter has failed to report to Go West and Police • Motorhome theft in Montreal and Greater Region - while parked
PRE-PAID KILOMETERS: 100km/day can be prepaid at $34/day 500km packages can be prepaid at $160 each. Extra Km: $0.37 per kilometer; charged on all vehicles Unlimited Mileage Option not available
PREPARATION FEE (mandatory): $75 - includes first propane fill, travel kit, 1 Pack RV toilet paper & chemicals
EXTRAS: Transfers: $75, see Transfer section for more information Full Convenience Kit: $80 per person per trip: bedding & towels; dishes, cutlery, pots & pans, and other utensils. Maximum charge: 4 kits ($320) Kitchen Equipment: $75 per trip: dishes, pots & pans and kitchen utensils.
CHILD SEATS Not offered for rental due to Liability reasons. Best option is to buy from Walmart upon arrival in Canada.
EXTRA DRIVER FEES No fees for 2010 season. There will be changes for 2011.
VIP INSURANCE: $25 per day. Maximum premium per rental: $800(32 days)
TAXES: 12% Vancouver departures 5% Calgary departures, 13% Toronto departures
ONE WAY RENTAL: Vancouver to Calgary and vice versa: $750; No one way rentals to Toronto and vice versa.
NORTHERN RENTAL: $300 conditions apply.
CASUAL CAMPING RV RENTAL: Units used for Casual RV rentals have 80,000 - 120,000 km.
Modification and Cancellation Fees Cancellations or modifications must be made strictly in writing via email. Deposit is non-refundable. The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
First modification is free and $50 per additional changes. No fee is charged when cancelled within 3 days of making the reservation, provided it is not within 30 days prior to pick-up date. Booking time to 30 days prior to date of pick up: $200 29 days or less prior to date of pick up: Full rental up to 2 weeks No show: no refund. One-way fees are payable in full on any cancellation.
2010 Group Cancellation Policy: Up to 90 days before pick up: $100 per vehicle + tax 89-31 days before pick up: $300 per vehicle + tax 30-16 days before pick up: 60% of rental charges + tax 15-01 days before pick up: 75% of rental charges + tax No Show : 100% of rental charges One way fee is payable in full on any cancellation.
